Apostate Songs?
by
Karen Pansler-Lam, J.D.
Apostate songs are just as wicked as apostate sermons. Songs are sermons…they preach a message. Making sure that all songs in the church are doctrinal and holy is just as important as making sure that all sermons are doctrinal and holy. Even if the sermons are sound, but there are profane “Christian” songs in the sanctuary, the church is being corrupted.
If you are in a church service that sings an apostate song...get up and walk out!
Walk out and speak out...confront the music director and pastor.
And if the church continues to sing apostate songs...stay out!
Recently, I walked out of a church service when a soloist sang the false Christian song, "Here I Am to Worship." This was the second time I walked out of the church. And I refuse to go back since apostate songs are offered as worship.
Here is the e-mail I sent to the pastor...
Dear Rev. X,
Kenny and I left the
Sunday morning service…we won’t be back.
Someone at the Florida
Holiness Campground recommended your church. When I explained we are not
interested in contemporary Christian music, he exclaimed, “Oh, we don’t
put up with it.” Of course, this is not true.
A few weeks ago, a man
and his grandson sang a worldly, “Christian” contemporary song. I got up
and went into the lobby. And there I was bombarded with the loud,
raucous “Christian” music of the contemporary service. It grieved my
spirit. But after the “special” I returned to the sanctuary for the
sermon. After the service, Kenny and I discussed the music, and agreed
we would not return.
However, we decided to
give the church another chance. But Sunday morning when John(?) was
singing “Here I Am to Worship” my spirit was so troubled that Kenny and
I left.
Just as there are
counterfeit Christians, there are counterfeit Christian songs.
Do you know the
background of the writer of this song – Tim Hughes? Hughes was the
worship leader at Holy Trinity Brompton, an Anglican church in London
modeled after the 1994 “Toronto Blessing.” The Toronto Blessing is known
for its manifestations: uncontrolled laughter, roaring like lions,
crawling on all fours and barking like dogs, and flapping arms like
eagles. As you know, Rev. X, these are demonic manifestations.
Simply put, “Here I Am
to Worship” is not a true Christian song. Briefly, it is an ecumenical
song…
1. Instead of “Here Am
I to Worship” Hughes
proclaims “Here I AM to
worship.” God alone is I AM. It’s
not a question of grammar. Hughes intentionally proclaims himself “I AM”
and tricks us into singing this proclamation.
2. It is not a
Christ-centered song; it is a self-centered song. The references to self
far outnumber the references to God.
3. The verses are
shallow. Especially troubling is the verse:
I’ll never know
How much it cost
To see my sin
Upon that cross
Allegedly, Hughes wrote
the song after reading Philippians 2. Verse 8 expressly states the cost:
“And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became
obedient unto death, even the death of the cross."
But Hughes purposely
omits Christ’s death.
4. It is a
feel-good-about-myself song because I’m impressing God with my worship.
5. It evokes strong
human emotions that many confuse with the moving of the Holy Spirit.
There is no such thing
as worldly, Christian music.
Music must be wholly
consecrated to God. Church music must never pander to low tastes –
"Christian" rock and other worldly music – and degrade sacred worship.
Christian music must be
sanctified.
Christian music must
kindle a holy emotion, not merely a human emotion.
We know that Satan is
transformed into an angel of light. “Therefore it is no great thing if
his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness” (2
Cor. 11:15).
Therefore, it is no
great thing if Satan’s ministers are transformed into worship music
ministers singing false Christian songs.
Kenny and I will not
raise our voices and sing false Christian songs, nor listen to apostate
songs.
See my message…
The Downfall of Christian Culture
Christians
decry the downfall of Christian culture,
but we are the
enemy.
Surely secular
humanists rejoice because we are destroying
our own
Christian culture.
We have been
hoodwinked into throwing out
Christian
traditions such as sacred hymns
and replacing
them with secularized religious songs.
And the more
Christian traditions you destroy,
the more you
destroy the entire Christian culture.
Grace and peace,
Karen Pansler-Lam, J.D.

And here is the pastor's reply...
Karen, thanks for your e-mail. I do appreciate all of the Scriptures you
used. I do trust you and your husband will find the church where you
will be comfortable in worship. Please remember there will be no perfect
church until the blood-washed, Spirit-filled followers of our Lord are
transplanted to heaven to make us His perfect Church.
May our Lord bless you and your husband real good!
Charles X
And here is my reply...
Dear Rev. X,
Indeed, there is no
perfect church on earth. But just as we are to be perfecting our body in
holiness, we are to be perfecting the Church body in holiness.
Having
therefore these promises,
dearly beloved,
let us cleanse
ourselves from
all filthiness
of the flesh and spirit,
perfecting
holiness in the fear of God.
2 Cor. 7:1
Clearly, the perfecting
of the Church is the will of Christ as revealed in Revelation 2 and 3.
For example, Jesus rebuked the church at Pergamos for being impure.
Instead of the Church protesting against the world, the world was
creeping into the Church…and corrupting it.
You will certainly
agree that songs are sermons…they preach a message. Making sure that all songs
in the church are doctrinal and holy is just as important as making sure
that all your sermons are doctrinal and holy. Even if your sermons are
sound, but there are profane “Christian” songs in the sanctuary, the
church is being corrupted.
Jesus warned the church
at Pergamos:
Repent;
or else I will come unto thee quickly,
and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.
Rev. 2:16
As you know, pastors
are accountable to God to “teach my people the difference between the
holy and the profane, and cause them to discern between the unclean and
the clean” (Eze. 44:23). And this goes for knowing the difference
between profane worship and holy worship.
The Nazarenes were once
known for their strong stand for holiness.
It's time to revive
holiness.
It’s time for Nazarenes
to once again proclaim in the sanctuary, “Holiness to the Lord.”
Grace and peace,
Karen Pansler-Lam, J.D.

Listen saints... Christian music matters.
Christian songs must teach Truth.
Christian songs must be Biblical. Recently, I joined in a Facebook discussion group about Christian rock music. Progressive "Christians" tried to bully me into sanctioning worldly, Christian music. Of course, they never quoted Scripture. Someone brought up David Wilkerson, and I posted a link to his 1987 article, "Driven to Darkness." Here's an excerpt from his article... I was honestly questioning if my writings about the music of devils in God's house were just old-fashioned prejudices or simply my distaste for rock music. Was it just so much fuss about nothing? Yet something was not quite right. There was an inner tug at my heart making me ill at ease. I reasoned, "If Satan is camouflaged in this somehow, if there is a leaven of evil - it will be revealed. Satan always reveals himself in one way or another." Suddenly the singer yelled in the microphone, "Jesus is coming - He is going to crack the skies - get ready!" The song was entitled, "Crack The Skies." Suddenly smoke was billowing out of smoke machines, the pounding beat was turned up to a frenzied pitch, eerie lights began flashing, the musicians stood like phantoms rising from a murky swamp. It was ghostly, weird, strange - and the crowd went wild - they seemed to love it. At the same festival, a wild spiked hair group had entertained - with painted faces, prancing about like homosexual peacocks. At first, I couldn't believe what I was seeing on stage. I said out loud, "This can't be happening at a Christian festival - they can't do this to my Jesus! These people can't be this blind - the leaders of this youth ministry can't be so undiscerning! Oh God - what has happened to your church that its leaders, its people, can't see the evil of this abomination?" Suddenly I was on the ground, on my back, weeping and sobbing, and groaning in the Spirit. I sat up and took another look at the stage. I was horrified by what I saw in the Spirit. I saw demonic images rising from that stage! I heard Satan laughing! Laughing at all the blind parents - the blind shepherds - the blind youth - the backslidden church! It was an overt manifestation of Satan - worse than anything I've ever seen on the streets of New York. I stood to my feet, literally shaking with the fear of God - consumed with a sense of His holy wrath against such wickedness. I rushed into the crowd crying at the top of my voice - Ichabod! (The glory of the Lord has departed!) Ichabod! I ran through the crowd, pushing aside chairs, weeping, shouting at the top of my voice, "Ichabod - this is satanic! Stop! God is grieved!" I was mostly ignored and I think most thought I was a crazy lunatic. I doubt anybody knew who I was - the musicians could not hear me, and the crowd was too tight to allow me near the stage. I wanted to get to a microphone and cry like an Elijah - "This is vomit on the table of the Lord! Who are your teachers, that you could be so blind, so worldly, so deceived!? What kind of blasphemy is this?"
I will not shut up on this matter! I will
not be silent while multitudes of our Christian youth are being deceived
by smooth-talking wolves in sheep's clothing! True love demands that the
truth be told.
About 10 years ago, I attended an AG church [Assemblies of God], and
was asked to be on the Vision Team. I accepted. When we went to the
first “vision” meeting, I was horrified. Young people were on a
“stage” jumping up and down, and screaming ecumenical lyrics to
blaring music. Strobe lights were flashing. I was so grieved in my
spirit that I became physically sick. It was profane! It was an
abomination! It was of the devil! I immediately resigned from the
Vision Team – a vision of hell. And I soon left the church. The AG
is part of the great falling away...
Of course, those who defend worldly, Christian music continued to belittle and bully me. And even pastors cast personal insults at me. I replied... 1) The Vision Team was promoted by AG Headquarters, not the particular church I was attending. This hellish vision was what AG HQ was working toward for ALL AG churches. 2) As to the argument that rock ‘n’ roll is merely a “style” of music: “Style” is a particular character of music just as a person’s style is an expression of his moral character. For example, the homosexual “lifestyle” is sexual perversion. Likewise, a person’s choice of music “style” expresses what is in his heart: “But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies” (Matthew 15:18,19). Rock ‘n’ roll – 1950s black slang for sex - was born out of an evil heart: rebellion against God and His command to be holy. 3) The heathen festivals were known for their songs of drunken revelry. Christian rock ‘n’ roll is revelling, which is condemned by the Bible (Gal. 5:21; 1 Pet. 4:3). The Greek word for “revellings” is often used of drunken youths parading the streets, or of festal processions in honor of Bacchus. And “revellings” reminds us of drunken or high rock stars prancing the stages raging songs in honor of hedonism. 4) Holy music is consecrated or set apart to a sacred use; and it fosters unity. It is immediately distinguishable from worldly music in word and spirit. The writers of sacred songs are godly men and women inspired by the Spirit. Certainly, every Christian senses the presence and power of the Holy Spirit in the following hymns: “To God Be the Glory,” “It Is Well with My Soul,” “How Great Thou Art,” and “Holy, Holy, Holy.” When sung as intended by the writers – with reverence – no one confuses them with the worldly styles of rock ‘n’ roll, jazz, show tunes, pop, etc. True spiritual songs are filled with the fragrance of holiness offered to the Kings of kings. True hymns are filled with the power and presence of the Holy Spirit; not driven by hype, loudness, and driving beat to create a psychedelic music experience counterfeiting the power and presence of the Holy Spirit. Holy music causes Christians to draw closer to God and inspires us to holy living. Holy music purifies our hearts and lives. Holy music creates a desire to read and obey His Word; and conform to the Word, not conform to the world. We look heavenward, and not to the world. And we no longer go a-whoring after the devil’s music: “Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God (James 4:4). We obey His command: “Be ye separate” (2 Cor. 6:14-18). 5) Ecumenical songs are those that try to unify the churches into a one-world religion. They are shallow, and don’t teach and admonish us (Col.3:16). For example, “Here I Am to Worship” is not a true Christian song. It is an ecumenical song. We know that Satan is transformed into an angel of light. “Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness” (2 Cor. 11:14,15). And the devil quotes Scripture and takes it out of context (Matthew 4:1-11). And devils believe in one God, and tremble (James 2:19). Therefore, it is no great thing if Satan’s ministers are transformed into ministers of music, writing and singing false Christian songs. 6) A church sanctuary must be filled with holy music. A sanctuary is a holy place. It is a place of refuge from the world. When we enter a sanctuary, we shut out the world and take refuge in the Holy of Holies, and offer pure sacrifices of praise to the Lord God Almighty. Rock ‘n’ roll is bringing worldliness into a place of holiness. Rock ‘n’ roll is blasphemy in the holy sanctuary. 7) Spiritual songs are sermons…they preach a message. Making sure that all songs in the church are doctrinal is just as important as making sure that all sermons are doctrinal. Even if the sermons are sound, but there are profane “Christian” songs in the sanctuary, the church is being corrupted. Jesus warned Pergamos: Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth. (Rev. 2:16) After more insults and profane babbling, I posted my final comment... FINAL COMMENT: After all the hateful words trying to bully me into accepting “Christian” songs that are unbiblical…it’s time to depart. But Christian songs must teach Truth. Jesus teaches us: “But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth” (John 4:23,24). You cannot sing praises to the Lord that are unholy songs of unbiblical lies – false worship – even if you are sincere. God does not accept false worship. Friends, be filled with the Spirit of truth! Be sanctified through the truth! “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth” (John 17:17). You cannot be sanctified through lies.
Pastors, you are accountable to God that in your
church the Truth is taught in sermon and song. Pastors,
you are accountable to God to “teach my people the difference between the
holy and the profane, and cause them to discern between the unclean and the
clean” (Eze. 44:23).
Christian Rock ‘n’ Roll: Here are excerpts... The modern Church has gone a-whoring after the devil’s music and polluted the holy sanctuary with “Christian” rock ‘n’ roll. But there is no such thing as Christian rock ‘n’ roll. A quick Internet search of secular sources reveals the devilish roots of rock ‘n’ roll…
Since Elvis shook his pelvis on
"The Ed Sullivan Show" in 1956, rock 'n' roll has been inextricably linked
with sex. In fact, the
term "rock 'n' roll" is 1950s black slang for the sexual act itself.
So…how can rock ‘n’ roll be
“Christian” when it’s black slang for sex? All aspects of rock music – its heavy beat, loudness, self-absorbed lyrics, and raving delivery – is intended to incite defiance of morality and authority. Undeniably, the intent of rock music is to incite rebellion.
Likewise, all aspects of Christian rock ‘n’ roll – its heavy beat, loudness, self-absorbed lyrics, and raving delivery – is intended to incite defiance of Biblical morality and Biblical authority. Christian rock ‘n’ roll incites rebellion against the Biblical church: holy worship to a holy God.
Rock music is a sacrifice to devils.
Rock music is fellowship with devils: Christians cannot have fellowship with devils.
We cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils.
We cannot eat of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.
We cannot sing praises to the Lord, and sing praises to devils.
Any music that incites rebellion against
Biblical morality and Biblical authority is the devil’s music. And we cannot
offer as worship the devil's music to a holy God.
Christian music matters.
Christian songs must teach Truth.
Christian songs must be Biblical.
You cannot sing praises to the Lord that are unholy songs of unbiblical lies - false worship.
Walk out and speak out....confront the music director and pastor.
And if the church continues to sing apostate songs...stay out!
Don't raise your voice and sing false Christian songs, nor listen to apostate songs.
Don't be part of a corrupt church.
