An
Open Letter to Students at Southeastern University of the Assemblies
of God in Lakeland, Florida
October 1, 2010
My dear Southeastern students:
My
heart and prayers are with you daily.
I care for you as if you were my own children.
And my chief concern is for your soul. "For
what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own
soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?" (Matthew
16:26).
Alas,
again it is reported that there is sin among you. Two
earlier reports were mentioned in my letter: “An Open Letter to
Southeastern University of the Assemblies of God Alumni and Friends” @
http://www.libertyadvocate.com/Southeastern%20Univ.htm.
Recently,
I received an e-mail from a SEU mother who planned to send it to the Presidential Search
Committee...
…On our visits to the school, we were
amazed and very impressed with the beauty of the campus. The fact that
little Southeastern Bible College has achieved university status speaks
well of the greatly improved academic environment.
Yet, we - and many other
friends - are alarmed at what we see as a departure from the Pentecostal
heritage that built the school's foundation. Example: how can a student
studying for the ministry reach his last semester, start interviews with
churches, and reveal that he has not been to church in over a year and his
job off campus is that of a bartender? And let me tell you, this is not
rare!
…The reputation of the school appears
to be top notch in the community and state. Yet, what does God think of
the "progress"? Yes, there is a "remnant" of students
whose eyes are fixed on Him and you can find them if you look closely.
However, it is now perhaps more likely to find students in bars and dance
clubs.
One son told us three years
ago that almost every freshman he knew smoked pot off-campus and that he
felt SEU would not be considered a Christian university in ten years. I
know you can't police the students all the time. Yet, change can occur
with true revival of spiritual beliefs and that change must start at the
top.
It is now time to look for a
President within our ranks - in other words - we need a President who is
an alumnus of Southeastern with a proven record of Spirit-led and
Spirit-filled ministry. He may not be a mover and shaker in the world's
eyes, obtaining the praise of social, business and political leaders. He
needs to be one who can kneel at the altar with the students and shake the
heavens with his prayers.
It's time for alumni, current
SE leadership/teachers, the university board and presidential search
committee to get on their faces before God. Then, and only then, will SEU
have the President that God truly wants in leadership. Until then, my
husband and I will be praying................
My dear SEU
students, these sins are an abomination to the Lord!
God’s
Law commands holiness: “Because it is written, Be ye
holy; for I am holy” (1 Peter 1:16).
Belief in God does not make
you holy.
Even demons believe in God.
Chapel
attendance does not make you holy.
Even
hypocrites and sinners attend chapel.
A
true Christian is a holy temple.
A
true Christian school is a holy campus.
And
good works do not make you holy.
Even
atheists do good works.
If
you perform good works but lead an unholy life, you are a sinner and a
hypocrite. Good works may
make you outwardly appear righteous to men, but Jesus said, “Even
so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of
hypocrisy and iniquity” (Matthew 23:28).
Clearly,
the Bible commands Christians to be righteous and holy: "For as ye
have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity
unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness
and holiness" (Romans 6:19). This is sanctification.
In
fact, Jesus warns you in Matthew 7: 21-23 that
professing Christians who sin will not enter the kingdom of heaven, even if
you do
many wonderful works in His name:
Not
every one that saith unto me, Lord,
Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but
he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Many
will say to me in that day, Lord,
Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and
in thy name have cast out devils? and
in thy name done many wonderful works?
And
then I will profess unto them, I
never knew you; depart
from me, ye
that work iniquity.
O
Southeastern students, who has deceived you?
Who has told you lies?
The
truth is...if you commit sin, you are a sinner. And sinners are doomed to eternal damnation - hell.
My
dear students, I fear that you have been made “merchandise of men”:
“And
through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of
you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation
slumbereth not” (2 Peter 2:3).
A
Baptist minister told me that district officials presented it to local
pastors this way:
Today’s youth are not interested in church or true Christianity.
Therefore, when the older members of your congregation die, you’ll
be without a congregation – you’ll be without a job!
Therefore, do whatever it takes to keep your job!
If it means bringing in entertainment – bring in entertainment!
If it means making sinners feel comfortable – make them feel
comfortable! If you don’t
give sinners and youth what they want, we’ll all be out of jobs!
The
truth is corrupt church government sees itself as a business corporation
that must save their jobs at any cost. If
they truly cared about you, they would tell you the truth – sinners go
to hell. Instead they want large congregations and large tithes and
large offerings, so they refuse to preach the truth because they are
afraid of offending you – their job security for tomorrow’s church.
Woe
unto church officials who market false Christianity and make merchandise of
you!
My
dear Southeastern students, false prophets preach a false gospel and do
not truly care about your soul. All
they care about it what they can gain from you – attendance, money,
praise, and other pickings and takings!
False prophets are greedy dogs who stop at nothing to deceive you
for their own gain. They preach a broad way to heaven.
Jesus
warns us in Matthew 7:13 - 15:
Enter
ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that
leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go thereat:
Because
strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and
few there be that find it.
Beware of false prophets, which
come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening
wolves.
O
Southeastern youth, beware of false prophets!
Beware
of false prophets that lead you down the broad path to hell!
False
prophets profess innocence, love, global peace, compassion and progressive
Christianity. And there are
many false prophets preaching many false gospels.
One
false gospel is the gospel of Christian Humanitarianism. Christian
Humanitarians talk about Christ, but distort His mission as coming to
crusade against social evils.
Christian
Humanitarianism preaches and teaches the life of Christ as a reformer
instead of our Redeemer and Saviour.
This
is a man-made doctrine!
This
is a fable! This is a lie!
Instead
of preaching against “old” sins, Christian Humanitarians preach
causes, or “new” sins: The sin of poverty. The
sin of pollution. And other social evils. They preach multiculturalism,
saving Mother Earth, and good works for the improved welfare of humanity.
Christian Humanitarians emphasize social sins and ignore personal
sins. In other words, Christian Humanitarians emphasize man's efforts
unaided by Divine help. They deify man. They despise the Cross of
Christ. They substitute “man glorified” for “Christ crucified.” They believe the Message of the Cross is foolishness.
Christian
Humanitarians deny the central message of New Testament evangelism is “Christ
crucified.”
Christian
Humanitarians are enemies of the Cross of Christ.
Christian
Humanitarians such as Rick Warren are joining hand in hand with other
enemies of the Cross of Christ to build a global community with a
one-world religion – religious humanism, or secular humanism. Rick
Warren and other false religious leaders are shifting away from “sin
issues” – like abortion and gay marriage – and are more interested
in “uniting” in causes such as poverty, HIV/AIDS, climate change and
human rights.
But
when you shift away from “sin issues” you shift away from the true
Gospel!
Religious
humanists, including Christian humanitarians, glorify man’s power to
save the world.
(See “Crucifying
Christianity” @

&
“Wake
Up, Evangelicals!” @
http://libertyadvocate.com/message28.htm)
Even
on “Christian” campuses, there is an emphasis on social justice and
good works instead of evangelism and righteous living. False teachers
cleverly teach some true doctrine and include false teachings with it.
Many “Christian” schools preach Christian Humanitarianism, not
“Christ crucified.” Students are not taught the Truth – the doctrine of the
Cross of Christ. Instead they
are indoctrinated with the false gospel of Christian Humanitarianism.
I witnessed this crusade
for Christian Humanitarianism while visiting SEU last year. Many
of you were wearing t-shirts crusading against poverty in Africa. During
chapel, a special offering was collected to fight human trafficking.
Outside the cafeteria, tables were set up collecting money for
another social cause. Southeastern
is not a Christ-centered school. You are not crusading for
Christ, but crusading for man – Christian Humanitarianism.
SEU is a man-centered school.
No t-shirts were worn
crusading for lost sinners. In
chapel, no offering was collected to send Bibles to foreign nations.
Outside the cafeteria, no tables were set up collecting money for
world evangelism.
There was no mention
of Jesus Christ who came to set us free from the bondage of sin. It is no
longer a true Christian school. True
Christian schools teach a life of purity and expect their students to live
a life of holiness. A student body polluted with sin desperately needs
the Message of the Cross!
O Southeastern students, what
can wash away your sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
Yea,
there are many false gospels. But the true gospel is that
God sent His Son to die on the Cross for sinners. The Cross is the
Power of God because it was there that the total sin debt was paid,
allowing us to be filled with the Holy Spirit.
Without
the Cross of Christ, there is no reconciliation between God and sinner.
Without
the Cross of Christ, there is no salvation.
Without
the Cross of Christ, lost souls are doomed to eternal damnation.
“If
my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray,
and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from
heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land” (2
Chronicles 7:14).
O Southeastern, humble
yourselves, and pray, and seek the face of the Lord, and turn from your
wicked ways and be healed!
O
Southeastern…
1)
Repent and turn from your wicked ways!
Christians are called to be saints.
He
that committeth sin is of the devil;
for
the devil sinneth from the beginning.
For
this purpose the Son of God was manifested,
that
he might destroy the works of the devil.
1
John 3: 8, 9
Let
us cleanse ourselves from
all
filthiness of the flesh and spirit,
perfecting
holiness in the fear of God.
2
Corinthians 7:1
Among
whom are ye also called of Jesus Christ: …called to be saints.
Romans
1: 6, 7
And
be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
And
that ye put on the new man,
which
after God is created in
righteousness
and true holiness.
Ephesians
4: 23, 24
2)
Hunger and
thirst after righteousness.
Blessed
are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness:
for
they shall be filled.
Matthew
5:6
I
am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger;
and
he that believeth on me
shall
never thirst.
John
6:35
3) Read
the Word of God (KJV) to know the Truth.
If ye continue in my word,
then are ye my disciples indeed;
And
ye shall know the truth,
and
the truth shall make you free.
John
8:31, 32
Sanctify
them through thy truth:
thy
word is truth.
John
17:17
4)
Fear God.
God
judgeth the righteous,
and
God is angry with the wicked every day.
Psalm
7:11
Wherefore
we receiving a kingdom
which
cannot be moved,
let
us have grace,
whereby
we may serve God acceptably
with
reverence and godly fear:
For
our God is a consuming fire.
Hebrews
12:28, 29
5)
Reverence God’s House (chapel/church).
Ye
shall keep my sabbaths,
and
reverence my sanctuary:
I
am the Lord.
Leviticus
19:30
Her
priests have violated my law,
and
have profaned mine holy things:
they
have put no difference between
the
holy and profane,
neither
have they shewed difference
between
the unclean and the clean,
and
have hid their eyes from my sabbaths,
and
I am profaned among them
Ezekiel
22:26
It
is written,
My
house shall be called
the
house of prayer;
But
ye have made it a den of thieves.
Matthew
21:13
6)
Worship God in
spirit and in truth.
God
is a Spirit:
and
they that worship him
must
worship him in spirit and in truth.
John
4:24
7)
Obey the Great
Commission.
Preach all the counsel of God.
Preach the pure Gospel.
Preach Christ Crucified.
Go
ye into all the world,
and
preach the gospel to
every
creature.
Mark
16:15
For
I have not shunned to declare unto you
all
the counsel of God.
Acts
20:27
For
we are not as many,
which
corrupt the word of God.
2
Corinthians 2:17
There
be some that trouble you,
and
would pervert the gospel of Christ.
But
though we, or an angel from heaven,
preach
any other gospel unto you
than
that which we have preached unto you,
let
him be accursed.
As
we said before, so say I now again,
If
any many preach any other gospel unto you
than
that ye have received,
let
him be accursed.
Galatians
1:7 – 9
For
Christ sent me not to baptize,
but
to preach the gospel:
not
with wisdom of words,
lest
the cross of Christ
should
be made of none effect.
For
the preaching of the cross is to them
that
perish foolishness;
but
unto us which are saved
it
is the power of God. . .
But
we preach Christ crucified,
unto
the Jews a stumblingblock,
and
unto the Greeks foolishness.
1
Corinthians 1:17, 18, 23
8) Beware
of false prophets and false preachers and
false teachers.
Beware
of false prophets,
which
come to you in sheep's clothing,
but
inwardly they are ravening wolves.
Matthew
7:15
Beware
of the scribes,
which
love to go in long clothing,
and
love salutations in the marketplaces,
And
the chief seats in the synagogues,
and
the uppermost rooms at feasts:
Which
devour widows’ houses,
And
for a pretence make long prayers:
these
shall receive greater damnation.
Mark
12:38 – 40
Beware
ye of the leaven of the Pharisees,
which
is hypocrisy.
Luke
12:1
For
such are false apostles,
deceitful
workers,
transforming
themselves into the apostles of Christ.
And
no marvel;
for
Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
Therefore
it is no great thing if his ministers
also
be transformed as the ministers of righteousness;
whose
end shall be according to their works.
2
Corinthians 11: 13 – 15
Beware
lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit,
after
the tradition of men,
after
the rudiments of the world,
and
not after Christ.
Colossians
2:8
9) Pray
for the spiritual revival of Southeastern.
O
ye dry bones, hear the word of the Lord…
O
breath, and breathe upon these slain,
that
they may live.
Ezekiel
37:4, 9
Quench
not the Spirit.
1
Thessalonians 5:19
10)
Pray for the spirit of wisdom and revelation
in the knowledge of Christ.
Making
mention of you in my prayers;
That
the God of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the
Father of glory,
may
give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him.
Ephesians
1:16, 17
11)
Pray for a president that will be a
true shepherd.
Let
the Lord, the God of the spirits of all flesh,
set
a man over the congregation,
Which
may go out before them,
and
which may go in before them,
and
which may lead them out,
and
which may bring them in;
that
the congregation of the Lord
be
not as sheep which have no shepherd.
Numbers
27:16, 17
And
Jesus, when he came out,
saw
much people,
and
was moved with compassion toward them,
because
they were as sheep
not
having a shepherd:
and
he began to teach many things.
Mark
6:34
Finally…
As
many as I love,
I
rebuke and chasten:
be
zealous therefore,
and
repent.
Revelation
3:19
O
beloved Southeastern students, be zealous and repent!
Faithfully
serving our Lord Jesus Christ and Savior,
